Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover...Mea Culpa

This blog entry no doubt is one among thousands using the above title after last weekend.

In case you haven't yet seen/heard the amazing Susan Boyle sing, watch this video. The whole thing is about 7 minutes long, but worth the time. As an occasional viewer of American Idol--the American version of Britain's Got Talent, the British show on which Boyle appeared, I didn't expect Boyle to have talent...because of her appearance. Shame on me.

You must listen to her.

I am humbled. I shall kick myself henceforth as a reminder not to judge by appearance.

Jesus H. Christ! I had to watch that 4 times, then tell my coworker to watch it. So amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Pretty amazing. Such an important lesson for many of us about judging by appearance.

The Dynamo found it on the interwebs yesterday, and she's *still* watching it!

I saw this on a loop post earlier this week. It is so inspiring! Especially when the audience leaps to their feet for her.

Lana, Charles, Steve, and Rae Ann -- Thanks for commenting. Since posting the entry, I've re-watched the Susan Boyle clip several times, and also seen her on Larry King's show, where she sang a cappella. Her voice brings me to tears every time. I am eagerly awaiting production of her first CD--although that apparently must wait until after she completes the competition in "Britain's Got Talent."

I watched it several times, too, and found myself choking up each time. Like the old song says, "You got to have a dream. If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"
